Maritime Center

Business casual is the preferred dress at San Jacinto College Maritime Campus unless participating in outside or non-classroom activities.  This means closed end shoes or sneakers, pants and short or long sleeve shirts.  During rescue boat or water survival training, students should bring a bathing suit, towel, and change of clothing. 

A pen, pencil, and note paper.  All other material will be provided.

 

Class hours are below.  You should arrive 30 minutes prior to the first day of class to allow for the completion of administrative paperwork. 

Mon-Fri: 0800-1700

 

*During summer months classes will end at 1200 on Friday’s.  

*Classes requiring off-site training may have adjusted class hours.

An official government-issued identification is required on the first day of the class along with payment.  Examples of a government-issued ID include a passport or driver’s license. 

The Houston Hobby Airport (HOU) is a 30-minute drive from our Maritime Campus.  Unfortunately we do not provide a shuttle service to/from the airport. 

Although we do not have lodging at the Maritime Campus, we do have special rates with several local hotels within the area.  For more information, please refer to our Local Lodging page.

Financial aid is available to students enrolled in the Associates of Applied Science in Maritime Transportation Degree Program.  Students will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. When applying you must input San Jacinto College’s school code (003609).

Financial Aid is not available to students taking continued education courses.

Determining which courses are required to renew a mariners license depends on what license you have.  Please contact our staff at 281-459-5483 or SanJacinto.Maritime@sjcd.edu for specific help.

Besides dedication, commitment, and hard work – you will need the following:

1. Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)

2. Physical using Coast Guard Form CG-719ke

3. Drug screening submitted on Coast Guard Form CG-719P

4. Basic Safety Training (BST) Course. This STCW and USCG approved 5-day can be taken at San Jacinto College Maritime Campus.  Please contact our staff at 281-459-5483 or SanJacinto.Maritime@sjcd.edu for help registering for this course.
