When it comes to applying for jobs, your resume is key. It is the compilation of your professional life skills and experience on paper, and is used in many ways; from handing out in-person at a career fair to emailing a contact in your network, or to submitting into a mysterious online database, your resume is your life on paper and your ticket to an interview. That said, writing a resume is personal and may feel difficult and overwhelming.
Typically, an online submittal of a resume to a company may go through several rounds of screening before being seen by a person; often there are automated screens used for qualifications and keywords, so it is important to keep these in mind when creating your resume. Once a resume is viewed by an actual recruiter or employer, the person may spend no more than 15 seconds reviewing your resume to see if your resume seems like a good “fit” on paper when deciding to extend an offer to interview.
