PASADENA, Texas — The San Jacinto College Board of Trustees approved the 2023 tax rate for the College District during its regularly scheduled October meeting. The rate approved by the Board is 14.6195 cents per $100 valuation of taxable property located within the San Jacinto Community College District, which is approximately $0.009410 (6.1%) below the prior year’s rate. It is comprised of an assessment for maintenance and operations (9.9152 cents) and a separate debt service tax rate (4.7043 cents). The total tax rate for 2022 was $0.155605.
For calendar year 2023, the average taxable value of a residence homestead in the San Jacinto Community College District is $170,800. The Board of Trustees approved an increase raising the homestead exemption from 1% to 5% in June 2023. With the adoption by the governing body of this exemption increase and a tax rate of $0.146195 per $100 of taxable value, the amount of taxes imposed this year on the average home would be $249.70.
