Pasadena, Texas  San Jacinto College has received the Silver Veteran Education Excellence Recognition Award from the Texas Veterans Commission, recognizing the College’s commitment to supporting student veterans and military-connected students.

The annual award, established by the Texas Legislature, highlights Texas colleges and universities that provide exceptional education and services to veterans and their families. Awards are presented at gold, silver, and bronze levels to recognize the depth and breadth of veteran-focused resources and programs available across the state.

“Colleges and universities across Texas offer world-class resources and educational support to the brave men and women who served in our nation’s military,” said Governor Greg Abbott in his announcement of the 2025 award recipients. “I thank these institutions for their ongoing efforts to provide wide-ranging services for student veterans and veterans' children as they pursue opportunities in higher education.”

“Education is key to a veteran’s personal well-being and long-term quality of life,” said Laura Koerner, chairwoman, Texas Veterans Commission. “These colleges and universities ensure our veterans and their dependents receive the quality education they have earned in an environment that cultivates their academic success.”
