Dance Instructor, Certificate of Technology

Certificate
The Dance Instructor Technical Certificate is for students who love dance and want to teach others. In this program, students will take focused classes with experienced instructors in professional dance studios. Students will learn the skills and knowledge needed to start a career immediately as a studio dance instructor. The certificate can be completed on its own or build up to the Associate of Arts, Fine Arts in Dance degree.
Length 1.5 Years
If you're studying full-time, you can complete the 41 credits for this program in three terms.

Fine Arts, AA - Dance

Transfer

The Associate of Arts degree prepares you to transfer to a four-year college or university. In this program, you will study dance technique, choreography, performance, and production. You will learn from experienced instructors who work in the field. Our modern dance studios provide a supportive place to learn and grow.

If you're studying full-time, you can complete the 60 credits for this program in four terms.

You will study dance technique, choreography, and performance. Classes may include ballet, jazz, modern dance, improvisation, and composition. You will also learn how to teach dance and create choreography.

Launched in fall 2024, San Jacinto College’s Dance Instructor technical program is your gateway to turning a passion for dance into a rewarding career. Hear from Emily Rodriguez and Sierra Victorian as they share their journey to earning the Dance Instructor certificate.

The program at the South Campus helps students get ready for entry-level jobs as dance studio instructors. Students will learn teaching methods, movement skills, technology, and performance techniques. The program ends with a two-semester internship at a local dance studio. Graduates can work as dance teachers, movement coaches, and choreographers.
