Our Biomanufacturing Technology program combines science with new ideas. You’ll learn
in class and get hands-on experience to prepare for a job in this exciting field.
You’ll help create life-saving treatments like vaccines and antibodies, and also learn
how biological systems are used to make chemicals we use every day.
Why Biomanufacturing at San Jac?
Biomanufacturing is where science meets real-world impact. At San Jac, you’ll learn
how medicines and biologics are made, hands-on, the way industry does it.
Learn by Doing
Train in real bioprocessing labs and practice upstream, downstream, and fill finish
steps. These are skills employers use every day.
Built for Great Jobs
Work on modern equipment in real bioprocessing labs, including fill finish, to gain
the practical skills used in today’s biopharma production.
Quality & Safety First
Get grounded in cGMP and cleanroom practices so you’re workforce ready for regulated
facilities.

Opportunities
As a program graduate, you will be prepared to start a career as a:
Biomanufacturing companies across the Houston region send their own employees to San
Jac to train, onboard, and upskill. As a San Jac student, you'll learn in the same
facility, on the same equipment, and with the same NIBRT-approved training these employers
trust for their workforce.
The Associate of Applied Science degree prepares you for an entry-level career in biomanufacturing, offering practical experience in a bioprocessing center designed to mirror today’s industry standards. You’ll train in core laboratory techniques as well as upstream, downstream, and cell processing.
2 Years
If you're studying full-time, you can complete the 60 credits for this program in five terms, including a summer term.
The Advanced Technical Certificate builds on foundational knowledge and prepares you for immediate entry into the workforce or career advancement in the fast-growing biomanufacturing sector.
1 Year
If you're studying full-time, you can complete the 23 credits for this certificate in two terms.
The Level 2 Certificate provides you with comprehensive understanding of bioprocessing and manufacturing techniques in the biotechnology industry. This certificate can be used in the field or to continue on with the AAS degree.
1 Year
If you're studying full-time, you can complete the 37 credits for this certificate in three terms.
The Occupational Certificate provides practical training in a bioprocessing environment that reflects today’s biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. You’ll develop skills for roles in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, research and development, and biotechnology industries. This certificate can be used in the field or to continue on with the Level 2 Certificate or AAS degree.
9 Months
If you're studying full-time, you can complete the 15 credits for this certificate in one term.
