RN-to-BSN Degree Nursing Next Steps

Welcome to the BSN Program! We're here to prepare you for a successful career as a BSN professional.

Let's get started

Nursing student virtual orientation: Orientation will be online and you’ll get access to it once you're in your first course, NURS-3350: Transition to Baccalaureate Nursing. It’s a great way to get familiar with the program—covering everything from the curriculum and expectations to textbooks, communication, and all the resources available to help you succeed.

Course registration begins: September 29, 2025

First day of classes: January 12, 2026

Required documents due: March 4, 2026

Items You Need

Here's everything you'll need to get started. If you have any questions, please reach out to us.
  1. Create a CastleBranch Profile

If you haven't already done so, please create a CastleBranch account. We use CastleBranch for document tracking.

Use the CastleBranch program code JC18dtim for the spring 2026 semester.

  2. Immunizations

Upload a current immunization record to your CastleBranch account. Make sure you have all of your immunizations completed within the first 8 weeks of the program.

  3. CPR Certification

Proof of your American Heart Association BLS (CPR) Certification or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) should be uploaded to CastleBranch. Please note:

    • No substitutions.
    • You must submit a renewed card if the CPR certification expires during the program.

  4. Drug Test

A negative urine drug screen is required for entry into the program and should be scheduled with CastleBranch. You'll need a copy of your negative* drug screen report from CastleBranch.

    *No diluted negative results accepted.

  5. Medical Insurance Card

Upload proof of health insurance to your CastleBranch account.

  6. Criminal Background Check

Students must schedule and complete a background check through CastleBranch to be eligible for registration. Be sure to obtain a copy of your background check results for your records.

  7. Physical Medical Record

A completed and current physical examination form must be uploaded to your CastleBranch account. Use the form to submit your physical examination record.

  8. Affiliate Agreement

Please complete the RN-to-BSN affiliate agreement.

  9. Official Transcripts

If you had prerequisites in progress when you submitted your application, submit official transcripts showing completion of that coursework. If you did not, you can send your unofficial transcripts to sanjacbsn@sjcd.edu.

Immunizations

Since clinicals and practicums happen at different partner sites, San Jac can’t control their immunization policies or handle exemption requests. Not meeting those requirements could delay your progress or graduation. Be sure to upload all your immunization records by the end of the first 8 weeks of the RN-to-BSN Program to stay on track.

To help you keep track of your immunizations, we've created this handy checklist for you. If you have any questions, please reach out to us.

Here are the immunizations required:
