What Information Can be Released Under the Solomon Amendment?

According to the Department of Education, the Solomon Amendment supersedes most elements of FERPA. Therefore, we’re obligated to release data included in the list of “Student Recruiting Infor­mation.” The information here may or may not match San Jacinto College's FERPA directory information list.

Student Recruitment Information (Solomon Information) includes:

1. Name
2. Address (home and mailing)
3. Telephone (home and mailing)
4. Age
5. Place of birth
6. Level of education
7. Academic major
8. Degrees received
9. Educational institution in which the student was most recently enrolled

Can I Prevent my Information From Being Released Under the Solomon Amendment?

Yes. To do this, you must restrict the release of your Directory Information through My San Jac - SOS Login link. Once logged in, you can make the request under the “Student Records” tab. When this request is submitted, no information from your education record will be released under the Solomon Amendment.
