Knowing about resources is one thing. Knowing how to use them is another.
San Jacinto College veteran services coordinator Jose Nicolas created the Veteran and Military Affiliate Resource Fair four years ago to ensure local veterans and their families not only understand but also use the many benefits available to them.
“We bring all the resources together so veterans can get the help they need in one centralized place,” Nicolas said.
The fourth annual fair — free to all veterans and their family members — will take place Friday, Nov. 13, at the Central Campus. This year’s focus is mental health and well-being.
In addition to lunch and prizes, guests will enjoy approximately 50 vendor booths with information about…
For Nicolas, what’s most rewarding is simplifying processes that can confuse or overwhelm
veterans, like filing disability/compensation claims with Veterans Affairs.
