Advance Your Career with the Texas Public Education Grant

The Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG) can help pay for Continuing and Professional Development (CPD) training programs.

TPEG provides need-based scholarships to qualifying students. A limited number of scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis during the fall and spring semesters. For most programs, the grant covers the entire cost of tuition. You may be responsible for purchasing books and/or supplies.

If eligible, you may receive two grants each academic year: one in the fall semester and one in the spring semester. 

To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrated financial need.
  • No outstanding student loans in default or any past due balance owed to the College.
  • Must meet all requirements of your selected training program, which may include: background check, drug screen, high school diploma/GED, etc.

CPD Grants for Adult Education & Literacy

Our division for Continuing & Professional Development (CPD) are designed to develop college and career readiness skills that include language, academic, and workforce instruction. The Adult Education & Literacy Grant provides eligible students with free enrollment in select courses. Reach out to adulteducation@sjcd@edu for more information.

Browse free course offerings

  • English as a Second Language (ESL) and Civics
  • Adult Basic Education (ABE): For students scoring below a secondary level on academic placement tests.
  • Adult Secondary Education (ASE): For students scoring at a secondary level on academic placement tests, and includes preparation for a high school equivalency (HSE) test.
  • Internationally Trained Professionals (ITP): For students who completed a Bachelor's Degree or higher in another country wanting to learn more about educational and employment systems in the United States
  • Career Pathways/Integrated Education and Training (IET): Assists students in developing and improving soft skills, academic skills, and/or language skills while participating in workforce training

Requirements and information

  • To register for the program, you need to complete a pre-test to check your eligibility.
  • Students 18 or older are eligible, but those over 16 may qualify with specific criteria.
  • Registration requires a valid government-issued photo ID and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • If programs reach full capacity, students will be put on a waiting list.
  • Day and evening classes are offered remotely, and some testing may require in-person attendance.

Bose Students

Are you ready to take your business to the next level? San Jacinto College’s Business Operations, Supply Chain, and Entrepreneurship (BOSE) program may be right for you. The BOSE program offers a variety of classes that will enhance the skills of both seasoned veterans and first-timers.
