Medical Assisting Admission Information

Medical assistants play a key role in keeping hospitals, physicians offices, out-patient clinics, and other healthcare facilities running smoothly. Interested in filling this critical healthcare position? Here’s what you need to know to apply for a degree or certificate program in medical assisting.

How to apply

After you’ve been admitted to San Jac, follow these steps to apply to the program. By the way, if you haven't applied to San Jac, you'll need to do that first.

  1. Apply to the Medical Assisting Program

    We have two enrollment cycles.

    • Apply for Summer 2026 starting March 23
    • Apply for Fall 2026 starting June 22.
    The enrollment period will close once we have received enough applications to fill the available slots. Please note that you will need your student ID login to access the application.

  2. Download the Student Handbook

    The Medical Assisting student handbook is your trusty guide. It has plenty of information that will help you find success in the program.

Additional Certifications

Upon completing the program, you’ll gain the skills and knowledge needed to earn key certifications in medical assisting. You’ll also be prepared to sit for three career-boosting exams:

  • The Certified Medical Assistant certification exam
  • The Registered Medical Assistant exam
  • The National Certified Medical Assistant certification exam
