For process technology student Zach Labbe, networking goes beyond shaking hands and
exchanging business cards. It's building relationships that shape careers and open
doors. The young process technology student has immersed himself in student clubs,
plant tours, mentoring, and special networking events since day one at San Jac.
Now he’s being considered for a prestigious apprenticeship.
"Being engaged and present made the difference,” Labbe said. “It wasn't just my resume.
It was my face and my story.”
About 130 cosmetology and massage therapy graduates earned their state license alongside their diplomas thanks to a partnership between San Jac and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations. Students took the state cosmetology licensing exam as their final exam, ensuring they could work immediately rather than waiting several months to sit for the exam.
Through the strategic use of JET grants, TWC continues to invest in programs that open doors for Texans to secure rewarding careers while meeting the workforce needs of local communities.
To help launch San Jac’s plumbing technology program, Abacus Plumbing and its longtime supplier National Wholesale Supply donated tools, equipment, piping, hardware, and other materials to outfit the hands-on training lab. Abacus not only participates as an advisory board member but also supports the College’s electrical and HVAC programs.
