PASADENA, Texas – San Jacinto College and the San Jacinto College Foundation are celebrating the successful completion of the Promise @ San Jac Scholarship endowment, which has reached its $30 million funding goal and will provide a pathway to a college education for generations to come.
Nearly six years after launching the fundraising campaign, the endowment completion marks a significant milestone in the College’s commitment to expanding access to higher education and helping students achieve their academic and career goals. The campaign brought together nearly 500 individual donors and almost 130 companies, organizations and foundations, demonstrating the power of collective community support in creating lasting opportunities for students. This collective achievement represents far more than a fundraising milestone. It reflects a shared commitment by individuals, industry partners, foundations, and community advocates who believe education is one of the most powerful tools for creating opportunities. Through this investment, generations of students will have greater access to credentials, career pathways, and the economic mobility that strengthens families and communities throughout the region.
The Promise @ San Jac Scholarship covers 100% of in-district tuition and books for graduating high school seniors who live in the San Jacinto College taxing district. Since 2021, more than 13,800 students have become Promise Scholars at San Jacinto College, with nearly $12 million awarded in tuition and academic support.
The completion of the Promise @ San Jac Scholarship endowment is a commitment to opening doors to higher education for all students and ensuring financial barriers do not prevent students from pursing their dreams. For Promise graduate Cynthia Jennings, who is now a nurse at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, and pursuing her master’s degree in nursing leadership management at Western Governors University, the Promise Scholarship was a difference maker for her family. “Once I received the Promise Scholarship, I began to excel in my academics at San Jacinto College. I made the dean’s list every semester and I am beyond grateful for having received the Promise Scholarship because it allowed me to fulfill my dreams, my career and my future.”
