Applying as an Undocumented Immigrant

How to Enroll as an Undocumented Immigrant

If you are eligible to enroll, here are the steps you must take.

  1. Apply for Admission

    The application process is simple, free, and you can do it all online.

  2. Gather Transcripts and Evaluations

    We will need official transcripts or notarized copies from your high school and any colleges or universities you have attended – both in the U.S. or abroad. We also need proof that you have had these transcripts evaluated by an accepted evaluation company.

  3. Gather Your English Proficiency Test Scores

    Since classes at San Jac are taught in English, we will need to ensure that you're admitted into a program that gives you the best opportunity for success. 

English Proficiency Test Score Requirements

Depending on your scores, you may be admitted to our academic programs or required to enter our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program to continue building your English skills.

For the ESOL Program

You may be admitted in the ESOL program with a minimum score of:

  • TOEFL - 450 (paper-based test) or 45 (internet-based test) 
  • IELTS - Band 5 range
  • Accuplacer ESL - You must achieve the minimum score for each section:
  • Reading: 60
  • Writer Placer: 2
  • Sentence Meaning: 53
  • Language Use: 53
  • Listening: 53

For Academic Programs

You may be admitted to an academic program with a minimum score of:

  • TOEFL - 525* (paper-based test) or 70* (internet-based test) 
  • IELTS - Band 6* range

* These score minimums are subject to change

For a Non-Credit ESL Program through CPD

Students who score below the required level for academic and ESOL programs may choose to improve their English through the non-credit ESL program, which is taught through our Continuing & Professional Development (CPD) division. 

English Proficiency Test Exemptions

Native students from the following countries are exempt from proving English proficiency: Australia, The Bahamas, Belize, Bermuda, Botswana, Cameroon, English-speaking Canadian provinces, Cayman Islands, Fiji Islands, Gambia, Ghana, Guyana, Jamaica, Kenya, Liberia, Malta, Nauru, New Zealand, Nigeria Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Tobago Trinidad, United Kingdom, Virgin Islands, West Indies, Zambia, and Zimbabwe
