Joel Aguilera

Dance Professor

Joel Aguilera is a Houston-based choreographer, instructor, and performer with an MFA in Dance from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and a BFA from the University of Houston. He has performed across the U.S. and abroad, with credits in Albania, Montenegro, France, and New York, and has shared the stage with Grammy Award–winning artists including Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, and Arturo O’Farrill & the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra.

Joel teaches Hip Hop as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston and San Jacinto College and leads classes at studios throughout Greater Houston. His choreography has been featured by universities and festivals nationwide, and through Mezclada Dance Company, he has presented original works in Houston, New York, Milwaukee, Austin, and St. Louis. He is currently a New/Now Artist with Performing Arts Houston for the 2025–2026 season.
