San Jacinto College’s Bachelor of Applied Science in Education Program receives prestigious accreditation from SACSCOC

PASADENA, Texas – San Jacinto College is proud to announce that its Bachelor of Applied Science in Education program, with a specialized emphasis in Early Childhood Education, has received full accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

This accreditation is a significant milestone for San Jacinto College and underscores the institution’s commitment to providing high-quality education and preparing the next generation of educators. SACSCOC’s rigorous evaluation process has recognized the program’s adherence to the highest standards of academic excellence, ensuring that students receive a top-tier education.

Key Highlights of the Program:

Career Advancement for Paraprofessionals: The program is tailored for paraprofessionals who have previously earned an associate degree and are looking to move into a higher-paying career in education.

Industry Recognition: Students with an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Early Childhood/Child Development and industry-based Child Development Associate credential can enroll in the program.

Flexible Pathways: The program allows students to use a valid industry-based child development associate credential and one of the previously earned San Jacinto College early childhood certificates or previous education toward their final requirements for graduation.

Career Opportunities: Graduates will be well-prepared to work with young children from six weeks through third grade. They will also be eligible to work in early childhood organizations such as Head Start or apply for teacher certification to teach preschool through third grade in public schools.

Competitive Salary Potential: Graduates can potentially earn competitive salaries, with elementary, middle, and high school (secondary) school teachers averaging $64,424.
