San Jacinto College transfer student Trang Nguyen

This is part of an ongoing transfer series about students who are using San Jacinto College as a launchpad to higher degrees.

Q: What program/degree are you pursuing at San Jac, and when will you graduate?

A: I am currently pursuing the business Associate of Arts at San Jacinto College with plans to graduate this spring 2024 semester.

Q: Share your San Jac story:

A: I was brought to San Jacinto College by an unexpected event, which I am beyond grateful for. For the past two years at this campus, I have had the opportunity to truly discover myself both professionally and personally.

Q: What have you enjoyed most about your time at San Jac?

A: I enjoyed the low student-teacher ratio within my classes. Such a thing has tremendously helped me connect to my professors and class materials more meaningfully.

Q: Do you want to give a shoutout to any faculty or staff who supported you?

A: I would like to give a shoutout to Professor Melanie Davis-Sanchez for my English courses, Dr. Jason Russell for my government courses, and Professor Robert Gaddie for my philosophy course. Each of these esteemed professors offers their own unique teaching style, and it was hard not to give my attention to all three.

Q: What’s next for you?

A: I am currently in the process of submitting my transfer application for the human resources Bachelor of Science at the University of Texas at Dallas. I plan to contribute my experiences from San Jacinto College there and later become an outstanding member in the HR field.

Q: What advice would you give someone else who wants to start at San Jac, then transfer?

A: I believe in connections with faculty the most at San Jacinto College. Being connected to professors is not only about enjoying your classes more and keeping you awake during lectures. Your professors will help you have a smoother transferring process by assisting with recommendation letters and essay revision. Even their words of encouragement will boost your confidence in transferring.
