Seventeen San Jacinto College students have been selected for All-State choir, jazz band, and the symphonic band — the highest-level community college music students can achieve.

"These students represent the very best among community college musicians in Texas," said Lynne Brandt, department chair, music and audio engineering. "This is the largest group of students we've ever had make these honor ensembles, and we are incredibly proud of them."

Sponsored by the Texas Two-Year College Choral Directors Associationand the Texas Community College Band Directors Association, the annual competition required students to audition to be selected. Once selected, they performed concerts during the Texas Music Educators Convention in San Antonio in February and attended clinics and workshops by nationally recognized clinicians.
