PASADENA, Texas — San Jacinto College hosted its annual Senior Wellness Expo with a twist Nov. 11 at the Central Campus.

For older adults and caregivers, the free expo featured a wall of honor with veterans' photos and notecards for guests to sign. Veterans who attended also received framed patriotic quotes and flag pins. The Beta Academy, a Houston charter school led by Darla Miller, performed for the veterans.

San Jac's Continuing and Professional Development Community Engagement Division organized the event. Through community service provider booths, fitness demos, speakers, health screenings, and vaccines, seniors learned about resources and activities that contribute to happy, healthy lives.

Another bonus was a safe environment to meet others.

"Research shows that socializing helps increase longevity and life fulfillment, so our expo was a fun event with long-term benefits," said Dr. Janice Sullivan, dean of community engagement, CPD.
