Coyotes open tournament Friday at 7:30 p.m.
PASADENA, Texas — San Jacinto College will host the National Junior College Athletic Association Region XIV Softball Tournament May 13-16 at the South Campus softball fields.
San Jac opens the tournament Friday, May 13, at 7:30 p.m., as the No. 1 seed from the South. The Coyotes will face Paris Junior College, the No. 4 team from the East.
"We always appreciate the opportunity to play postseason ball on our home field in front of our home fans," said San Jacinto College Head Coach Kelly Saenz.
San Jac (39-14, 19-5) has won 10 out of its last 11 games and is 21-6 at home this season. Sophomore Ronni Grofman (Kingwood/Kingwood Park HS) leads the team in batting with a .462 average. Freshman pitcher Christin Haygood owns a 1.42 ERA in 25 appearances on the mound.
All Region XIV softball tournament games will be livestreamed on TSRN Sports. The tournament winner and runner-up advances to the NJCAA Softball World Series May 25-28 at the Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex in Yuma, Arizona.
