The San Jacinto College South Campus Lyceum Committee hosted STEM From Dance founder and CEO Yamile Toussaint Beach.

STEM From Dance is a national educational outreach organization that works with under-served communities to show students how diversity, technology, and dance merge together to empower, educate, and encourage the next generation of technical innovators.

Beach gave a morning presentation about her personal story growing up in the dance, art, and STEM worlds and how she formed STEM From Dance in orderto inspire young girls to pursue the STEM fields.

The afternoon featured a computer programming coding workshop where participants learned some simple coding for wearable light-up technology they could wear while performing a dance that they choreographed themselves. The workshop ended with a fun performance by attendees all wearing the technology that they coded.
