San Jacinto College hosts Omani Delegation

San Jacinto College recently hosted a group from the Sultanate of Oman to tour its Maritime Technology and Training Center on the Maritime Campus to learn how the College educates workers in the maritime industry.

The 10-person delegation from the Omani Ministry of Transport and Communication was invited under the auspices of the Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program and through Global Austin. They were addressed by San Jacinto College's Dr. Allatia Harris, vice chancellor of strategic initiatives, regarding the College's background and workforce training.

"We were honored to host the delegation from Oman at our Maritime Campus," Harris said. "It is important to San Jacinto College to serve as an ambassador for workforce education."

The delegation toured the 45,000-square-foot facility, including three full mission ship bridge simulators, 15 classrooms, dining area, and engineering simulators.
